You’re welcome Bonnie! It’s been good to see your posts pop up into my inbox again, and I hope you had a beautiful, restful December, and a calm start to the year!
Really enjoyed this post and ideas. Especially love the question of what is beneath the shoulds. I finally opted out of the generic gift exchange this year with in law family. Always felt stressful. My nervous system is so happy.
We both have big families and every year I threaten to go away for Christmas, but here we are again with various people coming to us at various times. I just can’t help myself and am now gently telling myself that it must be because at some level I enjoy it!
What I have done this year though is actively decide that I didn’t need to try and sell all my pottery as Christmas gifts, some people have asked and I have obliged, but I placed no pressure on myself and have abandoned the studio altogether this week. I have the luxury to do so, a problem for me sometimes, but I may as well use it to my advantage too.
Sending you love for a peaceful, rested and happy Christmas. Xx
I’m pleased to hear that you didn’t put pressure on yourself to sell the pottery—there’s all the time in the world to do so, and you can enjoy the luxury of not having to do so right now. Have a calm and nourishing couple of weeks!
I decided not to do any entertaining this year as entertaining is very stressful for me. Still, I got invited to several social events so I am grateful!
I found all the advice here incredibly helpful for December! Thank you for sharing! x

That sounds like an excellent plan Lora, enjoy the events you’re attending!
Thank you Astrid!
I know what you mean about entertaining being stressful. Like you, I’m allowing myself to take a back seat - and liking it. Best wishes
And to you too! I found I can reciprocate in different ways.
