How to run your business on your own terms
A slow summer post with my favourite resources to run the business you crave
🧷 I’ve currently got two spaces for 1:1 mentoring available starting in August and September. Are you craving a slow, gentle and profitable business that truly supports you, your needs and desires? Let’s make it happen.
One of the most empowering moments in my business was when I realised that I can do business on my own terms. It is what my clients and I come back to again and again as well: I help them realise that they, too, can do business on their own terms, and support them to define what this looks like.
In this post, I’ve collected my favourite resources on running your business on your own terms, from trusting yourself to setting boundaries and creating a calm business.
Trusting yourself and your business
I would not characterise myself as an insecure person. But starting, building and running a business came with a big heap of self-doubt—especially as early on I realised that I did want to follow the hacks, the ‘rules’ and blueprints offered by traditional business gurus out there.
I needed to learn to trust myself, even though so much was new to me.
These are some of my favourite posts and resources on learning to trust yourself and your business:
Taking up space + setting boundaries
Many of the small business owners, freelancers and creatives I speak to started their own business because they wanted more freedom, more autonomy, more space in their lives.
But now they feel stuck.
Stuck between the (perceived) expectations of clients’ and customers’ and their own needs and desires.
Stuck between family and care demands and time for their business.
Or stuck in old stories of productivity and work, while their needs and desires tell them to do differently.
In working 1:1 with them, we gently explore what taking up more space and (often) setting boundaries would look like. These posts and resources are a taster of that work:

Building a calm business
One of the biggest reasons why I started my own business is because I wanted, and needed, more calm in my days and weeks. That need has only grown as the years have passed.
These are some of my favourite posts on what a calm business looks like for me—and strategies and ideas to help you achieve the same:
I’d love to support you to build your calm business
Over the past five years, I’ve supported clients to bring beautiful, aligned projects to life in their business, restructure their products and offerings, make consistent space for rest in their days, build a new business from the ground up and discover the relief of a slow, gentle and profitable business.
I’ve currently got 2 spaces for 1:1 mentoring (4 calls over 3 months) starting in August or September.
Book a free chemistry call (during which I will not put you on the spot to decide) to find out more, send me a message through my website, or check discover more details and testimonials here.
“To say that Astrid is supportive is an understatement. She helped me work through many things in my mindset and my business, and I could tell that she genuinely wanted to help me. My meetings with Astrid felt like meetings with a friend, and I appreciate her valuable insight. I 10/10 recommend her as a business mentor!”—Bri Dunavan
